In April 2026, I experienced my 2019 Kia Optima engine locking up, while driving on the interstate. I towed to my home. I gathered up all my warranty information and had it towed to Battleground Kia of Greensboro. I arrived before the arrival of my vehicle, and explained to the service advisor D. R. the issue, and the names of the two warranty’s I had, it was met with a blank stare at me in response, not a note taken of the warranties mentioned. So when I received a phone call at work from the service advisor (in pretty reasonable time) we had to go BACK over the warranties that I already mentioned. While he is telling me about $1,500 tear down. I mentioned this is why I pre gave the warranty’s ahead, during this stressful ordeal. He got very easily flustered and hung the phone up on me. Now I’m thinking is this something shady? I get the corporate and BBB number. However, in that moment I called the Service Manager, Mike Carlock instead. From the very first call, Mike was attentive, honest, and professional. And Mr. Carlock did an amazing job in keeping a Kia customer. Every email had a quick response, he sounded informed, was honest with me, and I was kept in the loop. Mike was everything I expected from the moment I walked into a dealership, as a customer. Mike was able to help me navigate through not only my warranty, but a program POC, within that warranty, to replace my engine. Mike was absolutely great and brought me back to 4 stars overall. My engine was replaced within a week of my approval.
