Exterior – 2019 Kia Soul
The 2019 Kia Soul near Charlotte is both cheerful and inexpensive, and it proves that an economical car doesn’t have to look (or drive) like one. The original version was blessed with functional lines, and it’s a bit well-aged in its second iteration. It has an upright windshield, a slightly tilted rear pillar, and a back end that is pure science fiction. While some models are a bit flashy with their gloss trim, their body-colored bumpers give them a unified look. We invite you to stop by our Battleground KIA showroom serving Charlotte North Carolina to get a good look at the 2019 Kia Soul. We’re your preferred Charlotte area dealership destination!
Interior – Kia Soul near Charlotte NC
The cabin of the 2019 Soul has numerous premium touches among its more economical textures and shapes. The steering wheel is charmingly chunky, the gauge cluster has a slightly sporty look, and the dashboard and door panels are covered in soft-touch surfaces. While the Soul has the footprint of a small car, its ample overhead room makes it feel larger. It comfortably seats four average-sized adults, and there’s plenty of cargo room left over.
While the base model lacks some of the features we’d like to see, the higher-tier models (the Exclaim and the Plus) can be outfitted with KIA’s superb UVO infotainment system, leather upholstery, cooled front seating, and a great sunroof. The Soul truly is an economy car with a stylish look and feel.
Up front, passengers get abundant head and leg room. The seats have high-bottomed cushions, and the instrument panel is placed comfortably low. While the tallest drivers may feel a bit cramped in consideration of the available sunroof, the Soul is comfortable enough for long road trips. The back seat is roomy enough for two (three, in a pinch), and there’s an armrest back there, which will help parents keep the peace. Stop by our Charlotte area dealership to see the interior of the Kia Soul for yourself.
Mechanical – Kia Soul specs near Charlotte
Although there’s an extremely economical 1.6L inline four available in the base model, we’d recommend an engine upgrade. With the 161hp inline four that comes in the Soul Plus, you’ll get brisk acceleration and a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission. It’s notably peppier, and its 17″ wheels help it stick to the road quite admirably. The Soul Exclaim and its 201hp turbo four-cylinder come highly recommended, and we’d love for you to come to our dealership serving Charlotte North Carolina to test drive the Soul.
Powertrain – Kia Soul specs near Charlotte NC
Base 2019 Souls have the same 1.6L inline four as the previous year’s models; this engine puts out 130hp and 118 lb. ft. of torque. With either a six-speed automatic or manual, it provides enough get-up-and-go for city commuters. However, you’ve got other choices. We’d recommend upgrading to either the bigger four-cylinder or the turbo four, which only comes with the six-speed auto.
If you order the turbo 1.6L with a seven-speed auto, you’ll get real urgency from a standing start, as well as ample torque steering. The suspension was updated in 2014, to include better shocks and provide more travel. With its short wheelbase and tall roof line, the 2019 Kia Soul near Charlotte provides a surprisingly comfortable ride.
Safety – 2019 Kia Soul dealer
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2019 Soul a rating of Good in most crash tests, as well as the Top Safety Pick+ designation. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mostly agrees, giving the Soul a five-star rating in most areas. KIA offers auto emergency braking as an option on the Soul Plus only, and they’re expected to offer it across the entire lineup in the future. As required by federal law, there’s a standard rearview camera, which means the base model’s touchscreen display is now five inches in size. Blind spot monitoring is available on Soul Exclaim and Soul Plus models.
